Dagmar Dialogues with style muse Sophia Roe
Welcome to Dagmar Dialogues, an editorial series where we explore the intersections of fashion, art, and architecture. Here, we celebrate the visionaries — our friends, collaborators, and those whose creativity continues to inspire us.
Sophia Roe is a true Scandinavian muse and the face of our latest social campaign. In collaboration with her close friend Diana Bartlett, she has crafted a personal imagery series, captured in the streets of her new home, Paris. An influential voice in fashion, Sophia brings the essence of Scandinavian minimalism to a global audience. With her distinctive aesthetic, she has cultivated a loyal following of over half a million. Her ability to blend timeless design with modern sensibilities resonates with the Dagmar philosophy.
Can you name a book that has left a significant impression on you recently and why?
The Years by Annie Ernaux. It’s soft but razor-sharp. The way it tells the story of womanhood without forcing it felt deeply familiar and powerful.
How do you interpret sustainable practices in relation to fashion, arts and interior design?
By caring. About where things come from, how they’re made, and whether I’ll still want them when my mood shifts. Longevity is such a love language!
If you were to invest in one interior design piece, which one would that be?
An Eileen Gray cabinet I’ve had my eyes on forever!
How would you describe your style in three words?
Moody, instinctive, effortless. I like to dress in black. It brings me a sense of ease and clarity to only think of silhouettes and textures. I am Auhd and very specific with colors and undertones.
Name a piece of clothing that defines your style the most.
My black silk slip dress. It plays well with both chaos and control. Goes with every single shoe or bag in my closet.
Is style something you are born with, or does it come with age?
Style gets sharper with age, but the instinct is always there. For me it’s my obsession with culture and women characters, combinations of textures and layers that really sparks within me.
