Denim
Denim is made from cotton, that is a staple cellulose fibre from the cotton plant. As a natural fabric, it has breathing properties, which allows it to adapt to different temperatures – making it very comfortable to wear during all seasons. Conventional cotton is grown on the same soil over and over again, degrading the soil quality, stripping it of nutrients, thus leading to unhealthy crops. Since these crops require more water, they are irrigated heavily, resulting in water wastage. Organic cotton is rotated from one soil to another, and the nutrients retain water longer, requiring less irrigation. Furthermore, The weeding process of regular cotton farming uses chemicals in the form of herbicides that kill weeds. The use of such harmful chemicals affects the quality of crops, sucks out moisture and nutrients from the soil, and also harms the farmers. Organic cotton is softer, hypoallergenic, and lasts for a long time. But ultimately, the most important benefit is protecting the ecosystem, reducing wastage of water, and ensuring a safer working environment for the farmers and manufacturers.
WASHING
Make it a habit to ventilate your cashmere garments after every use. When you need to wash the garment – let it soak in cool water with baby shampoo for a couple of minutes, agitate the garment gently when washing. Rinse with cool water and squeeze out excess water gently, do not twist. Flat dry on a towel and avoid sunlight and direct heat. Cashmere sweaters tend to pill when you start using them – this is unfortunately not avoidable.
