Viscose

Viscose is a rayon fibre made from natural sources such as wood and agricultural products, which are regenerated into cellulose fibre. Viscose is a soft, semi-synthetic manufactured fibre and the most common cellulosic fabric used today. Similarly to cotton, viscose is breathable, making it comfortable to wear. However, while still a natural fibre, it can be extremely harmful to the environment if not produced sustainably.

House of Dagmar only works with certified viscose to ensure the fibre is sustainably made and lives up to our environmental policy. We work with three types of viscose: Lenzing™ Ecovero™, FSC certified viscose, and GRS viscose depending on purpose and availability.

Lenzing™ Ecovero™
The Lenzing™ Ecovero™ label indicates that the fibres are derived from certified renewable wood sources using an eco-responsible production process that meets high environmental standards such as waste management and lower fossil energy use. The manufacturing of Lenzing™ Ecovero™ fibres generates up to 50% fewer emissions and has a lower water impact than generic viscose.

FSC-certified viscose
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a global organisation that certifies forests based on rigorous standards of responsible forest management. FSC-certification ensures that the forest is being managed in order to preserve biological diversity and benefit the lives of local people and workers while ensuring economic viability.

GRS viscose
Global Recycle Standard (GRS) is an international standard that sets requirements for the process of recycling fibres, such as social and environmental processing requirements and chemical restrictions. Despite being recycled, the quality and integrity of GRS viscose yarn is not affected, providing a low impact garment with longevity.

WASHING

Viscose tends to stretch when worn; however, this shrinks again after washing. When newly washed and not ironed, one might think that the garment has shrunk, but it will go back to its original shape and size once ironed. Always follow the specific instructions on the garment's care label.

STORING

Store your viscose garments on a padded hanger and avoid direct sunlight.
